Renovation of a roof apartment

A renovation of a 70 sqm apartment in an early 20th century building in the heart of Brussels. One simple functional wooden volume is added. Its external sides enrich the daily activities by offering a dressing, a bookcase and a mezzanine which can eventually serve as guestroom. Its interior provides a bedroom, a wardrobe and a bathroom. Thus, an inside and an outside with a completely different atmosphere are created within the same volume. This rather simple spatial operation accomplishes two objectives: accommodating a very dense program by, simultaneously, enriching the spatial experience of the whole apartment.
